If There Is Hell Below Podcast... Grills on the NHS

Rob and Callum are back after a week break and guess what? Their Dad still isn’t Brian May; for that they count their blessings – your dad being Brian May is the street cred killer.
In a podcast full of cred, they can’t risk that.
Rob’s bought in mainly hip hop choices from Oddisee, to Ayentee’s Mos Def, Common and Black Thought Frankenstein mixtape, to Danny Brown’s unhinge weed paranoia minimalism and also a bit of Turkish surf rock and rare jazz funk.
Callum’s got that J. Mascis and Spacemen 3 inspired shit that cats have been digging (yeah, I said ‘cats’) in the form of Bare Mutants and Bearhug, new garage rock from Ty Segal + White Fence, plus his own hip hop choice from Nas.
There’s more stuff, there’s more rambling – ‘this is that real’.

Tracklisting
Apaşlar – Şans Çocuğu
Nas – The Don
Danny Brown – Baseline
Gentleman Jesse – Take It Easy on Me
Bearhug – Over The Hill
Ayentee – Blackout
Iris Bell With The Jive-Ettes – Honky Games

If There Is Hell Below Podcast... The Unskippables

RSS

Down tools and sack-off your work load, it’s the If There Is Hell Below podcast… Rob and Callum have unintentionally pulled together 3 songs with loosest connections to the ‘Big Star’ sound and Alex Chilton’s little circle of influence. The other songs jump from a new cut from Gonjasufi’s latest desert hip hop trip, Conduits; a shoegaze band who refuse to be called a ‘shoegaze band’ – so some shoegaze from them. An incredible track jazz/hip hop/Marvin Gaye-a-like track from BJ and the Chicago Kid, a lovely little tender moment from Elijah Forrest’s project Terrors, some Brazilian psych fuzz and Young Governor leading our Big Star family tree.
