After last week’s Good Shit ’12: Tracks, we turn our attention to the year’s best Long Players.
Rob and Callum have pulled together their 20 favourite albums of the year, as before we haven’t ranked them but we do each have our own ‘Album of the Year’ and also throw out some silly awards (Fred Perrys) for notable inclusions.
This is our last podcast of 2012, thanks for listening.
Note: Rob says the Ty Segall and White Fence album is called ‘Wet Hair’, it isn’t it’s just ‘Hair’. He’s crippled with embarrassment.

Rob and Callum welcome the power of three with the addition of guest co-host Luke Moore from the Football Ramble, who leaves his boots at the door to talk music.
The choices are split three ways; there’s some hip hop from Despot’s long awaited album, another stella drop from Homeboy Sandman and something off the Dahi Beats beattape.  Charles Bradley gives a Rodriguez track a horned up soul/funk makeover, Renny Wilson provides some AOR saxophone disco groove and we remember The Rolling Stones for spearheading the garage rock movement.
There’s of course more music inside, join us.

Rob and Callum present the If There Is Hell Below podcast, without a theme they are left to talk about things like the kind of music played in bars in a late 80s sci-fi film that doesn’t exist.
The intergalactic barroom song in question comes from Nicolas Jaar and Theatre Roosevelt (whoever he is?), plus there’s hip hop from Dilla Ghost Doom, Wrathmatics and something dug up from the 90s by Rakim, smooth white soul from Donnie & Joe Emerson, Shintaro Sakamoto and a track from one our favourite comps of the year. There’s also some twee Scotch-pop from Golden Grrrls and garage surf power pop from King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. Of course that is only a few layers of filling inside this sandwich, take a listen and enjoy those hidden flavours.

With a sparkler in their top pocket, Rob and Callum present an altogether more family friendly music podcast.
There’s some soaking denim punk rock from Pissed Jeans, French psych prog rock from Aqua Nebula Oscillator, US Civil Rights inspired hip hop from Real J Wallace, shoegaze from Cheval Sombre and Nothing, some nerdy vinyl festishism for Light In The Attic’s latest Lee Hazlewood boxset and more besides in this thoroughly wholesome podcast.

Over the next hour and a bit of If There Is Hell Below podcast Rob and Callum will transport you to a special place; a village where the townsfolk have been seduced by a mysterious stone dwelling cult,  where stinking Musk will lure ANY French woman, where a Bald man exists in a white room wearing a shiny overcoat making sterile synth pop and where the President of the USA is a regular subscriber to the greatest music podcast recorded in a small flat in Kentish Town.
The soundtrack to this place consists of the jazz-fusion electric-era Miles Davis aping of Fontanelle, the post punk coldness of Total Control, the Flying Lotus approved hip hop of Captain Murphy, the 1960s replication of The Haiduks and the hairy heaviness rock of Golden Void and Socrates.
There are more mysteries inside this podcast, only listening will complete the picture.

Hungover from the 100th Rob and Callum blow the cartridge and present the 101st If There Is Hell Below Podcast. It’s a hip hop heavy week with something new from honorary ark inductee Action Bronson, another video game song SelfSays and Open Mike Eagle, a co-gush over the new Kendrick Lamar album and more. Other choices include percussive jazz group Cults Percussion Ensemble who have had their privately pressed gem reissued on Trunk, tropical rhythmic psych from Flamingods, Milk Maid and Gross Relations provide some lofi fuzzanomics and Sputnik-1 have that cosmic funk. There’s more indie, just open the pod and listen.
