This week, Rob and Callum not only provide the hip hop world with some brand new skits they can fill their albums and mixtape with but also come equipped with a fine selection of tracks that have aroused our ear nodules.
We fawn over Paul Westerberg and his first track in years, Action Bronson takes us under the sea with Zinedine Zidane, tracks from Jason Molina and Donovan & Michael Tapscott take us on a folk tangent, Oh No and Chris Keys bring a film-noir chill, Field Music re-imagine the Godly Robert Wyatt, there’s some long lost French soundtrack proto-metal tribal fuzz and Italo-hip hop prog crate digging... There’s far too much going on in this episode, have a listen for yourself.

If There Is Hell Below Podcast... Vinyl Fetishist

Robert and Callum are back after a wee two week break. Rob returns from San Francisco with a selection of tracks he picked up from his vinyl pilgrimage of the City most famous for being the location of Robin Williams cross-dressing Lolathon Mrs. Doubtfire. His choices will include a couple of barely known 45s; one with an optimistimistic west-coast 60s spirit and bossa nova rhythm the other a 1970s medley of anti-war songs and audio news clipping. There’s also a track from Evans Pyramid: the bargain basement Prince, steam train powered krautrock from Harvey Mandel and something new from blaxploitation funk band Monophonics. If you’re not such a vinyl fetishist, Callum has a selection of new finds from the Aussie surf jangle of The Twerps to the 5th Dimensions Byrds/Revolver Beatles psych sound of Temples, some killer noise pop from Erik Blood and something wonderful from Mac DeMarco. There’s also more besides including other ace tunes and geeky vinyl chat.
