Spacemen 3 - Hey Man

Saw Kurt Vile last night at Koko with Sonic Boom providing support, Boom broke my heart on account of being disgracefully shit.
Just a bloke droning some electronic loops for what seems like eternity, I can see this kinda futura-one-man-band shit anywhere and done a hell of a lot better.

As one half of Spacemen 3 and Spectrum I expect some of the good shit.

That came when he joined Kurt and The Violaters for an encore of Hey Man, pretty incredible really.

Redemption.

The Men - Ex-Dreams

The Men - Ex-Dreams by Cargo_Promo

Did The Men not just release a killer LP just less than 12 months back? That was heavy, very heavy, veering between hardcore punk, psych rock, krautock and with more than a nod to Spacemen 3.
Judging from this, the new LP Open You Heart is more of a Sonic Youth and Replacements wavering between their hardcore and pop punk leanings.

Open Your Arms is out on the ever-reliable Sacred Bones label

Fairewell - Wild Meadow/I’ve Been Locked Away (Team Ghost Remix)

We don't tend to post remixes up on ITHB or the podcast, suppose I got bored of them and the constant shit storm of generic house, dubstep and electro that clogs up hype machine.
So here is remix, to remind you that they can be alright and can give a song an extra dimension or context that may not have existed before.

Rob Morgan and Callum celebrate 2 years of the podcast, in the only way they know how; unprofessionalism, ramblings and opinions, with some music that we like dotted inbetween the cracks.
There’s something new from Wes Doyle and his new rock-duo Treefort, a bite from Field Music’s Plum, FIDLAR with a song every bit as good as their acryonym name, TheeSatisfaction provide spoken-word and beats, Lee Fields provides the loving, Here We Go have something motorik frenetic and we’re starting with steel drum funk.

Yoofz - Hazy Days
FIDLAR - No Waves
THEESatisfaction - QueenS
Lee Fields & The Expressions - You're The Kind of Girl

The Luke And Rusty Rodeo Show featuring Newton Dunar Interview

Had a listen to this radio show the other day for Strongroom Alive. Some killer selections from Luke, Rusty, pioneering club owner Newton Dunbar. Here's their blurb:

'The Luke and Rusty Rodeo Show set off on their maiden voyage with a mixture of psych, soul, reggae and rockabilly plus an interview with living London legend Newton Dunbar who ran the Four Aces nightclub, later known as Labrynth. All that, and a mix by Simon McCabe of Tinkers Cuss.'

Check the show and have a listen to a highlight of their set below on the soundcloud bar.

Timmy Thomas - Why Can't We Live Together

Timmy Thomas - Why Can't We Live Together (1972)

Gilles Peterson dropped this one on his essential Radio 1 show, sitting perfectly between his mix of old jazz, funk, soul and new experimental, dub, electronic, house music.
It's sparse, soulful and the organ sound is a modern producer's dream sound, James Blake would kill to write this.

Sex Hands - Season 1

Cheers goes to the excellent LostLostLost blog for the heads up on this. They tell me that this mini-album is inspired by the hit comedy Friends, this shouldn't fill me with any excitement as the show has been a constant moan in my life. Vapid, characterless, superficial, bland, dullard cunts and after we've talked about the show's target audience we'll get onto the characters... am I right, or am I right? Oh fuck, you like it too.

This has none of the 'qualities' of the show; it's rough, charming and actually has some character.

Now I'm gonna go watch some Seinfeld.
