If There Is Hell Below. Episode Five: Max Pastor plays some tunes and we look at Ozzie Biker Film Stone.

Download: If There Is Hell Below... Episode 5 (right click 'save link as')

Episode five of the podcast and we've only gone and released a feature into the wild, it's called 'Sounds of the Screen' and as the name hints we're going to be featuring a movie soundtrack each week. This week we take a look and listen at cult Ozploitation biker film Stone and the soundtrack composed by Billy Green. Have a watch of this.

We also welcomed vinyl obsessive, DJ and promoter Max Pastor who came in to play some stoner funk, Bollywood psych and French electronics.

All this with Call and Rob's choices of tracks from Zola Jesus to Suckers and Drink Up Buttercup to Patti Smith.

If There Is Hell Below Podcast. Episode 4: A Tribute To Alex Chilton

Download: If There Is Hell Below... Episode 4 (right click 'save link as')

Episode four of the If There Is Hell Below Podcast sadly took a different turn when we found out about the sad and untimely death of Alex Chilton who died on the day of recording. As a result we felt it only fitting that we put together a tribute to this great song writer, musician and singer who has bought me (Rob) and so many others such joy.
He was a hero to me and many others, an inspiration to bands such as REM, Teenage Fanclub, The Replacements, Primal Scream, Ryan Adams, Wilco, Elliot Smith and so many more will continue to fall in love with his music beyond his years.

Nothing I can say could ever do the man justice, but this podcast is my tribute to Alex Chilton and his songs.

This sounds a bit like goodbye
In a way it is I guess
As I leave your side
I've taken the air
Take care, please, take care
Take care, please, take care

The podcast also features un-Chilton songs from the likes of Madlib's Young Jazz Rebels, The National, The Soft Pack and The Phenomenal Handclap Band.

If There Is Hell Below Podcast the Third.

Blog number 3. This is it it's up. Just Callum and Rob this time just chewing ourself some breeze and playing some great tunes (we'll let you be the judge).

"Now a trilogy the If There Is Hell Below podcast with Callum Eckersley and Rob Morgan has aspirations of becoming an anthology. The Morning Blendeers, Wire, El Michels Affair, The Replacements, Al Kooper and more pepper this latest edition of the only musical podcast you need (if you only allow yourself to listen to one podcast)"

Tracklisting: If There Is Hell Below episode 1

Here is the tracklisting for the first episode of the If There is Hell Below podcast. Figured few of you may have wanted to know; don't like putting the tracks up with the pod as it ruins the surprise and I always think shows are better when you're waiting with baited ears with a pen and back of an envelope.

And here be the tracks...

Del Close & John Brent - Introduction
The Radio Dept. - Heaven's On Fire
Spoon - Trouble Comes Running
Midlake - Children of the Ground
Caribou - Odessa
Galt McDermot - "Cool It With Contac" Radio Spot
Damian Marley & Nas - As We Enter
BLO - Preacherman
The Whitefield Brothers feat. Edan & Mr. Lif - The Gift
Besnard Lakes - Albatross
Slowdive - Machine Gun
The Delfonics - La-La Means I Love You
Bruce Springsteen - I'm On Fire

I'll be putting up the tracklisting for episode 2 up next week, which you can download here.
